Robinson: I'm England's number one

Obviously I've got great respect for David James and, indeed, all the English goalkeepers, but I'd like to think I've done enough to be seen as England's first-choice keeper. If I don't get the nod in these next couple of games, I'd be disappointed because I've been pleased with my form since I got into the side.

I believe I've got enough in my locker to keep the shirt for a long time to come and certainly for next summer's World Cup. Saying that, we're not there yet.

With both these games in front of our own fans, we'll be extremely disappointed if we don't win both. That's not to say we're taking anything for granted because if you take your foot of the pedal at this level you will be punished.

The Irish, in particular, will be really up for the game and it'll probably be more like a typical Premiership game. But if we win both, hopefully we can put a bit of daylight between ourselves and Poland, who have still got to play us at home later in the year.

We are all aware of the past and particularly the proud achievements of 1966, but the only way we are going to create our own piece of history is by qualifying for the World Cup and winning the tournament again.

We've seen what winning the Rugby World Cup meant to the country and if the footballers did it, you can only imagine the scenes. It would be a massive achievement and to be a part of that success would be fantastic. We've all lived on the memories of 1966 for too long now and it's time we addressed the situation.
